T. Amarnath, Senior Consultant

Mr. Amarnath graduated from the Madras University in 1972, with a degree in Electrical Engineering.

He has over 37 years of experience in Fertilser, Petrochemical and Infrastructure projects. His expertise covers project management, electrical design and engineering, besides procurement.

He worked at the Fertiliser Complex of SPIC at Tuticorin during the erection, testing and commissioning of various electrical systems of the project. Subsequently, he also managed the Electrical maintenance function in the Ammonia, Urea, Sulphuric acid, Phosphoric acid and Di-ammonium Phosphate plants in the complex, involving preventive and breakdown maintenance of switchgear, motors, transformers and other electrical accessories.

From 1980, he worked in the SPIC SMO Division of the company, where he was responsible for detailed engineering, purchase and inspection of electricals for projects undertaken by the Division. He was also responsible for Installation, testing and pre-commissioning of plant electricals for various projects executed for the Division.

From 1194 until 2000, as Head of Procurement of SPIC SMO, his responsibilities included purchase of all project materials, inspection, expediting and shipping for various projects such as Indo-Jordan Chemicals, ONGC, Petro Araldite, etc. He continued as Procurement Head after the incorporation of Technip India, handling other clients such as Cairn Energy, Chemplast Sanmar, Niko Resources, etc.

He retired as General Manager-Infrastructure Projects from Technip in 2011 but continued to support them as a Consultant looking after technical quality management for Electrical and Instrumentation design.

Mr. Amarnath thus possesses field experience in construction, commissioning and maintenance, in addition to design, engineering and procurement experience in large projects. This width of knowledge and experience brings value to Avantt in utilizing his services on its experts’ panel.
